Iran’s Foreign Minister today condemned a “criminal coordinated” bombing by the United States and Israel against Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, which severely damaged Iran’s main engineering and innovation hub.
The attack, perpetrated on April 6, unequivocally was described by FM Abbas Araghchi as a “criminal coordinated action”, struck the nation’s principal engineering and innovation hub, causing significant damage to crucial academic and research infrastructure.
Araghchi utilized his social media platforms to denounce the aggressions, asserting their intent to cripple Iranian knowledge and scientific advancement. He explicitly noted that this specific bombing follows a disturbing pattern of attacks targeting other educational centers across the country.

The destructive bombing resulted in severe damage to multiple critical facilities within the university campus. Reports confirm the obliteration of essential infrastructure, including underground bunkers, advanced research laboratories, the central mosque, and various other key installations vital for academic and administrative operations.
“The aggressors will see our might”, the Foreign Minister warned In a powerful statement.
According to Iranian authorities, the explicit objective behind these attacks is to impede the nation’s scientific and technological development, thereby undermining its sovereignty through the systematic destruction of its core educational and civilian infrastructure.
Adding to the strong condemnation, Iran’s First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, characterized the incident as a stark symbol of the United States Government’s “madness and ignorance.” “The knowledge of Iran is not embedded in concrete to be destroyed by bombs. The true strength is the will of our professors and elites”, Reza Aref powerfully stated.
The attack on Sharif University is not an isolated incident; it tragically adds to a growing list of at least 30 academic institutions that have been systematically targeted throughout the ongoing conflict.
These bombings against the educational sector form an integral part of a broader, more extensive offensive that has deliberately impacted critical civilian infrastructure across Iran. This includes vital transportation networks such as roads and bridges, as well as essential public utilities like power plants and key energy facilities.
Since February 28, the imperialist aggression perpetrated by the Washington-Tel Aviv axis has resulted in a devastating human toll, claiming the lives of over 2,000 people in Iran. This tragic count includes not only numerous civilians but also high-ranking military commanders and, most notably, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
In a resolute display of defense against this aggression, the Islamic Republic has consistently affirmed its sovereignty through a series of retaliatory actions. These defensive measures have included precise missile and drone attacks targeting strategic points within Israeli-occupied territories and against United States military bases located across the region. Furthermore, Iranian forces have successfully achieved the downing of United States combat aircraft, consolidating an effective resistance against the persistent siege.
Despite the numerous contradictions and intense pressures exerted by the administration of Donald Trump, Tehran remains steadfast in its unwavering commitment to defending its national integrity and securing its scientific future against what it characterizes as ongoing imperialist aggression.
